Keeping the deteriorating educational standards in Hindi medium government and semi-government. School in mind, Jagriti project was inaugurated at Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School with an objective to provide free counseling and coaching to poor students from around the region in Mussoorie today.
A team of 62 dedicated teachers from Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School would be imparting the necessary educational guidance to the students belonging to the poor strata from more than a dozen government semi government school through five centers, specially created for project where the students can avail the opportunity of gaining valuable knowledge from the teachers assigned for task in the town.
Around 741 students registered under the project were also distributed free stationary by GNFC school management on the occasion.
The chief guest on the occasion, former MLA Mussoorie, Jot Singh Gunsola, commended the efforts of GNFC School for providing such service to the students who are unable to pay extra for their education. He also said that it is heartening to see that a large number of girls students have opted for the project in comparison to the male counterparts and hope that the male students will also avail the opportunity in the years to come.
The administrative officer of the school, Mr. Sunil Bakshi, who is the brainchild behind the said that he was inspired by the chairman of the school Sardar Jaspal Singh to run such project under a social responsibility scheme being run by the school.
Mr. Bakshi further said that at the educational system in the government school is on the verge of collapse with absence of teachers due to unforeseen reasons affecting the students adversely, it was decided that the teacher of the school will stay back this winter vacation and impart education services on basis to the students from the poor strata of the town.
He also informed the media that the teachers thorough various centers will be imparting knowledge to the students from science, arts and commerce streams so that they can also compete with others public school effectively.
Mrs. ND Sahwney, the principal of the school, speaking on the occasion commended the effort of the teacher for agreeing to participate in such project.
She further said that the school was already running a community radio station, a school for the class IV staff of the school, free medical service through its resident doctors and had also adopted a village and pledged support to them in every possible manner.
She further said that the endeavor of the school was to create a platform to inspire and support children so that they can realize their dreams through Jagriti project.
The five centers have been established at Sanatan Dharam Inter College, Rama Devi Inter College, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Government Primary School at Doodhli village and Mussoorie Girls’ Inter College from where the students will be given necessary guidance for a month. Anuj Tayal Principal of the semi government school Rama Devi Inter College said that due to absence of the teacher in the government and semi government school the students were at the receiving end and such a project will help in boosting their morale and enhancing knowledge prior to their board exams here.
MC president Manmohan singh Mall, local unit Congress president Satish Dhaundiyal and Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board Sandeep Sahni, MC ward members Jasvir Kaur , Ramesh Bhandari, Vice Principal of GNFC School Mr. Anil Tewari and others were also present on the occasion.
