TOUCHING GREATER HEIGHTS...................
Another glorious year with its share of success, historic moments drew to an end as the school celebrated its 44th birthday on 22nd November, 2013. The year 2013 shall always be very special in the history of the school as Tashi & Nungshi Malik, Alumni of 2009 batch conquered Mt. Everest on 19th May, 2013.
Half the city was sipping morning tea when the twin sisters unfurled the tricolour on the summit. The laurels did not rest here. The 'Top Girls' had promised to scale other peaks and successfully scaled the death mountain – "Mt. Acon-ca-gua" of Argentine on January 29th, 2014. The highest peak in the western hemisphere at an altitude of 6,9262 mts.
To quote "It was difficult, but not impossible. We didn't let our energy and the enthusiasm run out. It's with our determination and firm belief that we managed to successfully scale such an arduous peak.
We are proud of you Tashi & Nungshi ! So is the state of Uttarakhand. Children, let your Mantra be - Determination, firm belief and it is not impossible – is the key to be an achiever.
Teachers play an important role in the lives of children. We ought to be competent, but we ought to aspire to be great teachers- even if great teachers are rare. For great teachers not only convey to their students the nut and bolts of discipline they do something more- they inspire and in doing that they make a difference in their students lives. Teachers should ensure that children benefit personally, emotionally and intellectually.
Here, I would also like to express our deep gratitude to Chairman S. Jaspal Singh and Vice- Chairperson Mrs. Amrit Kaur Sabharwal for their support and guidance. So many young minds are being moulded in a positive manner in their educational journey at GNFCS under their patronage. The school also runs a number of welfare programmes which have been initiated by the Chairman. 'Giving Back to Society', is an integral part of the GNFC curriculum and very close to the heart of S. Jaspal Singh Ji. The school is already running a Community Radio Station Radio Khushi 90.4 FM, a Bal Vidya Mandir School, free medical services through its resident doctor and has also adopted a village 'Jagriti', is the latest addition. This winter vacation the GNFC School Staff undertook the project of visiting Govt. schools in Mussoorie and adjoining villages like 'Dhudli' to teach children of weaker sections of society- to ignite a spark in the minds of these young stars - the future of the nation. It was indeed a rewarding experience for the staff as the smiles on the faces of the children conveyed it all.
Well-done! Keep up the good work.
I wish all of you greater 'success in 2014.
